About Us
Tesi Environmental Awareness Movement (TEAM) is the first and only Tibetan environmental NGO (non-governmental organization) in exile. Our mission is to revive the ecological consciousness of the Tibetan people. Through the combination of traditional Tibetan spiritual values with modern scientific knowledge about the environment, TEAM aims to empower Tibetans to live a sustainable and eco-friendly way of life.
In the modern world of globalization and consumerism, people everywhere are gradually losing their connections to nature and becoming instead, reckless polluters of the environment. We believe it is particularly tragic that Tibetans are fast joining this trend, ignoring the pro-nature wisdom of our cultural and spiritual heritage and causing social and environmental health problems in the community and the world at large. Therefore, TEAM seeks to rekindle the ecological aspect of Tibetan spirituality and connect it to modern concepts of ecology by introducing our communities to pro-nature, healthier ways of living.
