Executive Director:
Tsering Yangkey served as the Head of
the Environment and Development Desk of the Central Tibetan
Administration for four years before she left her position
to start Tesi Environmental Awareness Movement. Ms. Yangkey
has a BA in Biology from Berea College, Kentucky and an MS
in Environmental Pollution Control from Pennsylvania State
University. Ms. Yangkey has done several internships in the States
such as at the International Crane Foundation and Blandy Arboretum
of the University of Virginia. Ms. Yangkey has attended numerous
international conferences, including the 2002 World Summit on
Sustainable Development, United Nations Commissions on Human Rights
and World Social Forum.
Programme Director:
Thinley Norbu served as the Project Manager
cum Tibet Support Group Liaison Officer for the Department of
Information and International Relations of the Central Tibetan
Administration Tibetan during his 8 years of service. Mr. Norbu has
a BA in Journalism from Bangalore University and several diplomas
in Public Relations, Programme Management and International
Diplomacy. Mr. Norbu has attended several International Meetings
including IUCN’s 3rd World Conservation Congress in
Thailand.
Policy Director:
Tashi Tsering is the editor of
TRIN-GYI-PHO-NYA,
a bimonthly journal on Tibet’s environment and
development. Mr. Tsering is also the Director of Environment
and Development Program of Tibet Justice Center, a non-profit
organization that does legal advocacy for Tibetans. As a Tibet
Justice Center representative, Mr. Tsering is the key Tibetan
responsible for the landmark international environmental (IUCN 2000)
resolution for the protection of Tibet’s transboundary rivers,
negotiated face-to-face with China’s representatives. Educated
in Mussoorie (India) Central School for Tibetans, Mr. Tsering
continued to earn a B.A. from Bangalore University and MA’s in
Economics from Garhwal University and International Politics from
Portland State University. He has published numerous articles and
reports on Tibet’s environment, with an academic research focus
on the political economy of China’s water management.
Chief Editor(Chinese/Tibetan):
Kunthar serves as the Founder/Director of the Tibetan Translation House and has translated at least twenty Tibet and His Holiness related books in Chinese. Mr. Kunthar also wrote a couple of books in Tibetan on China’s Development Policies in Tibet and written numerious articles in Tibetan and Chinese in various books and newspapers. He is also the Vice President and International Relations Director for the PEN Tibet Centre, a Tibetan Writers’ Association. Mr. Kunthar has an equavalent of a BA in Mathematics from Kanlho National College, a BA in Biology from North-Western Teacher Training University in Lanzhou in Gansu, China and diploma in Social Science Research methods in the South-Western National University in Chengdu in Sichuan.
Research Officer:
Ugyen Tsephel was born in Mey-dro-Ghunkhar in Tibet.
He has learned Tibetan and Chinese language as his primary education
in Tibet. In 1991, he came to India and continued his studies in Tibetan
Children Village School, Suja. After passing the 10th grade he joined
Central School for Tibetan in Mundgod for two years. He further completed
his B.A cum B.ed in Tibetan from Sarah College.
Research Officer:
Yungdung Nyima Ven. Nyima went to Tibetan Children's Village School up till grade twelve. After that he joined Menri and Triten Norbutse Bon Universities where he not only received Zongchen trainings and degrees but also practiced for many years in the caves of Dolpo, Nepal. Knowing his interests in ecology and the Tibetan wisdom culture, we requested Ven. Nyima to join TEAM to fulfil our mission in reviving the ecological consciousness of the Tibetan people. Fortunately, Ven. Nyima has agreed to work with us for some time.
Computer cum Communication Officer:
Tashi Lhamo Tashi Lhamo is our computer cum communication officer. Tashi has a bachelor's degree from the Gharwal University in Dehradun and also has advance diplomas in software programming, Computer Hardware, Web Development, Linux Administration, and database serving administration and networking from various institutions in India including the Indian Institute of Hardware Technology Limited, Bangalore. Tashi also worked at the Tibetan Computer Resource Centre of the Tibetan Government-in-exile (TGIE) for six years and developed many database and websites. At TGIE Tashi was the email operator cum file manager and then Webmaster of the official website www.tibet.net
