22 April 2010: Tesi Environmental Awareness Movement celebrated the Earth Day morning with the students and staff of the Peton Mewon Tsuglak School in Dharamsala and afternoon with the staff of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile. Like every year, TEAM reminded everyone that Earth is suffering due to human manipulation and pollutions. Unless we are conscientious about our behaviour now, the future of every sentient being on the planet is under threat.
June 8, 2009: Tesi Environmental Awareness Movement marked its fourth founding anniversary with forty-six Eco-Club members and Home Mothers of Gopalpur Tibetan Children's Village School in a four-day environmental leadership-training workshop. On World Environment Day, TEAM offered the Club with a seed-fund of Rs. 5000 and honoured Tsering Tharchin— a 12th grade student, who was TEAM’s member since 2005— with Tesi Environmental Service Award for his service and love for Nature.
A Student Wins Tesi Environmental Service Award!5 June 2009 2009 Lungta Essay Competition5 June 2009 5 June 2009: Every year Tesi Environmental Awareness Movement (TEAM) in partnership with Lungta Centro in Swizterland organises an essay competition on environmental issues in the Tibetan schools in exile. This year the essay contest was held in Sherab Gatsel School in Kanyara, Dharamsala, on the topic of Air Pollution.
The best four essays were awarded on World Environment Day with cash prizes of Rs. 2000, Rs. 1500, Rs. 1000 and Rs.500 for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. The winners are Jigme Gyatso (1st), Tsering Tashi (2nd), Sangye Bhum (3rd) and Ngawang Kunkyen (4th). The essays can be read here, here, here and here.
Earth Day: TEAM Promotes Awareness Towards Saving Our Planet!22 April 2009
To mark this year's Earth Day, Tesi Environmental Awareness Movement (TEAM) organized a series of activities including publication launches, letter-writing campaigns and a door-to-door lobby to reduce the usage of Styrofoam platters.
Two hundred copies of the two books in Tibetan, "Environmental and Health Problems Related to PVC Products" and "An Introduction to Organic Farming" were released. A total of 192 copies of each book were distributed to organizations and individuals. The first eleven copies of our new set of twenty-two posters of Tibetan wildlife were given to nearby schools and educational institutions.
5 June 2009: Today, on the twin event of World Environment Day and TEAM’s founding day, Mr. Tsering Tharchin, a student at Gopalpur TCV was honoured with Tesi Environmental Service Award. The award recognises his commitment in raising environmental awareness in the Tibetan Community and his outstanding love and respect for Mother Nature. He received TESA Certificate and a cash prize of Five Thousand rupees.
